La Familia

La Familia

Mi Familia, another year, another harvest. Based in La Plata and El Pital, the Campos Roa family works together to create this wonderful lot of coffee we call La Familia. Composed of ripe Castilo & Colombia varieties, the coffee is pulped and then soaked for 15 days, slowly sun dried and bagged for export. This is our forth year working with the Campos Roa family, some of the best coffee producers and professionals in Colombia and the world. They are kinda like the ABBA of the Colombian coffee world, a multi talented powerhouse of coffee skills and expertise that we are so lucky to have as our Colombian partners. Don Elias Roa and his wife Bellani are 20 year veteran coffee producers who have worked with industry legends around the world and have a great knowledge of specialty coffee. Their daughter Derlin followed them into the coffee world but paved a different path and is a former Colombian Aeropress Champion in her own right. Derlin fell in love with a young coffee obsessed Diego Campos who would eventually become World Barista Champion. Before being crowned the greatest coffee maker of all time, Diego worked in Melbourne as a barista and became friends with Jordy. This connection and friendship has led to incredible coffee and a partnership that will see coffee produced for us twice a year. At Commonfolk, we love to see real partnership and business that is built on mutual success, and we are excited for a long future with our Colombian Commonfolk family. We import this coffee ourselves directly from the Campos Roa family with some help from Jordy and the wonderful team at Osito.
