Los Campeones

The power couple of Derlin and Diego dominate the coffee industry in every facet; both Colombian champions, Derlin, Aeropress and Diego, Barista. Diego went on to become World Barista Champion in 2021, launching the duo into the specialty coffee spotlight alongside all the other incredible things they had been working on. Before the barista championship circus, Derlin and Diego had purchased a coffee farm and were renovating and making it their own with the help of Derlin’s parents, Bellani and Elias. The first harvest rolled around and Diego reached out to his Australian friend Jordy to see if Commonfolk might be interested in importing the first harvest from Diamante. We received some samples and were shocked at the outstanding quality in just the first year of production. This lot had a unique lime and raisin characteristic that we loved and have celebrated in Los Campeones since, celebrating the Colombian varietal, grown at 1950 metres above sea level and processed using a fully washed method before being dried on raised beds. This year we found the lime has turned into a crisp green grape and apricot with a burnt honey sweetness and syrupy texture. We are very thankful to Derlin and Diego for their continued partnership, and our importing partners Osito for helping bring this coffee to Australia.
