Gaharo Hill is home to the Bukeye washing station, the first Long Miles washing station built with locals and now continues to serve the same community today. Bukeye is built from clay bricks cast onsite and has water supplied via a borehole. As many as 322 producers with a combined total of over 60,000 trees bring their coffee down from Gaharo Hill each harvest to sell to Long Miles whole then take over processing and export. The Coffee Scout program invests in the community, allowing Burundians to become the teachers and trainers among coffee farmers. A team of around twenty-five young, local adults help work with the Long Miles agriculturalists, helping to increase quality and sustainability. Coffee Scouts implement ways to understand pests and soil to stop the ever-elusive potato defect, while also helping farmers understand the impacts of climate change and how to combat them. This naturally processed lot is first floated and hand-sorted before spending 25-30 days on drying beds, receiving lots of attention and regular turning before being removed when reaching the 10.5% moisture level and a dark purple colour is achieved. Tasting notes of boozy custard, sweet cloudy apple juice, and refreshing melon soda made it impossible not to buy.
